Knights Destroy Tulane, Secure Bowl Placement

Filed under: UCF Sports — Dr. Christopher Blackwell @ 04:00

Kamar Aiken from UCF hauls in a touchdown catch in front of Ryan Travis and Derrick Strozier (18) during their game against Tulane at Bright House Networks Stadium in Orlando, FL on Saturday.  The UCF Knights continued their season with another historic victory Saturday afternoon at Bright House Networks Stadium. After defeating their first-ever top-25 ranked opponent last week, UCF (7-4; 5-2 C-USA) handed the Tulane Green Wave a 49-0 loss, marking the first time the Knights have shut-out a Conference-USA opponent. UCF dominated both offensively and defensively. But it was the tough defense that forced several Tulane (3-8; 1-6 C-USA) turnovers that UCF capitalized on, yielding a whopping 28 points! The win brought the Knights their 7th victory of the season, which guaranteed them a slot in one of Conference USA’s six bowl tie-ins. Unfortunately, UAB’s loss to East Carolina secured the Pirates their place in the C-USA Championship game, ending the Knights’ chance of appearance. UCF plays its final 2009 regular-season game this Saturday at Alabama-Birmingham (5-6; 4-3 C-USA). Kickoff is @ Noon.
