Ragtime to Close on Broadway

Very sad news was released yesterday from the producers of Ragtime, the newly conceived and critically-acclaimed revival of one of the best musicals to ever grace the stage. After just 2 months, Ragtime will close. The last performance for the freshly-imagined show, which got its start last Summer in Washington, DC’s Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, will be this Sunday, January 3rd. While the show is a favorite among theater-goers, its large budget, 40-piece orchestra, and large cast made Ragtime an expensive production that had been rumored to be too costly to keep afloat. No word just yet on whether or not the new production will tour.┬áIf you’re in New York City before January 3rd, do yourself a favor and see Ragtime at the Neil Simon Theatre.
