After the UCF Knights (9-3; 6-2 AAC) destroyed rival usf (4-8; 2-6 AAC) 34-7 last week in the War on I4, the Knights learned today they will be heading to Tampa to face the Thundering Herd of Marshall (8-4; 6-2 CUSA) on December 23rd in the Gasparilla Bowl. The bowl game will be broadcast on ESPN and kickoff is set for 2:30pm.
UCF leads the overall series with Marshall, 8-3 with the two last meeting on Oct. 27, 2012. UCF handed the Thundering Herd a resounding 54-17 defeat in that matchup. UCF ended its regular season on 11/28 with a 9-3 record, with signature wins against Stanford, Temple, and rival usf. Their three losses, which amounted to just 7 points, were to Pitt, Tulsa, and Cincy (who just lost to Memphis in the AAC Conference Championship Game on Saturday and will head to Birmingham to face Boston College).
A win against Marshall will allow the Knights to close its 2019 season with a double-digit 10th win and head into 2020 with a positive thrust.
