After six years of dedicated service on the National League for Nursing (NLN) Certification Board of Commissioners (BOC), Dr. Christopher Blackwell has completed his final term and concluded his tenure as a Commissioner.

Dr. Blackwell was initially appointed to the BOC in 2020 by NLN President Dr. Beverly Malone. Following the completion of that appointment in 2022, he was nationally elected to continue serving on the Board and was subsequently re-elected to a final term extending through 2026. Having reached the Board’s term-limit requirements, Dr. Blackwell is no longer eligible for reappointment as a Commissioner.

During his service on the Certification Board of Commissioners, Dr. Blackwell provided leadership as Chair of the Nominations Committee and served on both the Budget and Finance Subcommittee and the Appeals Subcommittee. His contributions supported the NLN’s mission to uphold excellence and quality in nurse educator certification.

Reflecting on his experience, Dr. Blackwell shared:

“It has been an absolute honor to serve the nurse educator profession in this national leadership capacity with the National League for Nursing. Throughout my tenure, I have had the privilege of building meaningful professional relationships and collaborating with exceptionally talented and dedicated colleagues. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the important work of the Certification Board and look forward to continuing my engagement with the NLN and the nurse educator community in the years ahead.”

Although his service as a Commissioner has concluded, Dr. Blackwell will remain actively involved with NLN certification initiatives. He will continue contributing to the development and ongoing success of the Certified Nurse Educator (CNE), Certified Nurse Educator Novice (CNEn), and Certified Nurse Educator Clinical Instructor (CNEcl) examination programs.

Dr. Blackwell’s commitment to advancing excellence in nursing education continues to reflect his dedication to the preparation and professional development of nurse educators nationwide.
